About

We are Sticky Exhibits, a volunteer-run not-for-profit organisation based in Chester, GB

We specialise in interactive exhibits, props and models for events to help start conversations about sustainability.

Our exhibits have been used at events large and small across Britain – from village fetes to Glastonbury Festival.  They have been used to help engage thousands of people in conversations about sustainability issues.

We were orginally started as a ‘project’ by a sustainability professional who knew from experience that having ‘a banner stand and box of leaflets’ was rarely enough to attract and hold people’s attention at events.  They knew exhibits, props and models helped with engagement, but these resources were often expensive and tied to time-limited projects in specific places.   The idea for the initial project was to create a central collection or ‘library’ of resources that could brought in when needed, affordably, rather than bought outright just for use in one place and time.  Following a grant award from UnLtd, the foundation for social entrepreneurs, Sticky Exhibits was born.

With the initial grant funded project demonstrating wider demand for interactive exhibits, we were formally constituted as a not-for-profit organisation – Sticky Exhibits Community Interest Company (Company No. 6512455) – in 2008.   We exist to serve those who promote environmental education and environmental awareness at events. As a Community Interest Company we must serve our community interest.  Any assets we have are ‘locked’ to this purpose.

Over twenty years later, we are still going. We remain 100% volunteer run.

We charge fees for our services with the balance of our income from donations and occasional grants to create and deploy exhibits.

Services

We can provide an engaging eco-themed attraction at your event from around £200 upwards depending on your location and requirements.

Common exhibit packages include:

  • ‘Energy Alive’ – a pop-up sustainable energy exhibition
  • ‘ESCAPE’-  featuring 15 minute escape room-type eco games
  • The ‘Pledge Planet’ for collecting action pledges
  • The ‘whole in one’ – a three hole eco-themed crazy golf game
  • The ‘earth arcade’ – a solar powered eco-themed games arcade

Our gallery includes pictures of our exhibit collections in use

Our packages draw together a collection of elements from our exhibition collection

For outdoor events, where a marquee or gazebo is not provided by the event organiser, we can deploy exhibits in one of two exhibition tents:

  • The eco dome – A 6.1 m diameter (at base) dome tent (use on grass only)
  • The geodesic dome – A 4.8 m diameter (at base) grodesic tent made from coppiced hazel poles

Our gallery includes pictures of our tents in use

Support

Supporters are our lifeblood. There are several ways you can support our work:

Donate

We can’t survive on passion and volunteer time only.  We have real bills to pay (for example storage rental, public liability insurance, and charges to remain legally compliant as a registered Community Interest Company). Much of our income comes from small regular donations from our volunteers and supporters but we welcome one off donations too.  If you can afford to, you can make a donation now

  • Using paypal

  • By cheque – if you still have them! Make them payable to ‘Sticky Exhibits Community Interest Company’ and send to 8 Abbots Grange Chester CH2 1AJ.
  • By bank transfer – If you’d like to tranfer money via bank transfer please get in touch to request the necessary details.

Small regular donations are a vital to our income stream.  If you can make a regular donation you can contact us for a standing order form, or set up a recurring payment to our PayPal.

Work in partnership with us

We welcome collaboration with other organisations to create new exhibits and engagement projects.

Talk to us if you think there are ways we could work together for example as a partner for a funding bid where you are planning engagement through public events.

Sponsor us

We appear at events large and small and can generate positive coverage in the media. Please contact us about sponsorship opportunities for exhibits and appearances.

Help-in-kind

Please make contact if you can provide help-in-kind.

We are particularly keen to find free, secure dry storage in the Chester area.

You may have suitable exhibits that you are retiring from your own projects that could still have a life for use by others?  Let us know what you have.  We might not be able to take it but there’s a chance we can keep your exhibit in use and out of landfill.

Volunteer

We rely on the time and energy of volunteers to help make exhibits and take them to events.  If you have any exhibit ideas or particular skills to help create them please get in touch

Contact

You can contact and connect with us through various means (Just remember that we are volunteer run so we might not always be able to respond instantly).
