March 2015 Coming soon! New wheels for Sticky Exhibits Apologies for the lack of updates. We have been very busy with a series of bids to different funding sources. We have been trying to secure funding to purchase and restore an eco exhibition van that was retired from local authority service following changes in staffing. As yet we have not been successful with securing the funds but with time runnning out we have taken the plunge and bought the vehicle from our reserves. We continue to investigate funding options for the £1500 we estimate it will cost to get the vehicle overhauled. UPDATE - here is a photo of the Eco Van now in our possession

September 2013 Earth Fest Success It was a pleasure to take part in the inaugural Wirral Earth Fest held in West Kirby. Following a week of grey skies and rain, the clouds cleared and the sun shone allowing us to heat a bucket of water to demonstrate how solar thermal energy works Lush to the rescue Pleased to report we have secured a small grant from the Lush Charity Pot Programme. This most welcome grant will help us complete and repair exhibits. It will also help us pay some of our core costs over the next twelve months. July 2013 Festival goers go crazy for the 'Whole in One' Thanks to a fantastic effort involving help from many sources, Sticky Exhibits was able to debut the 'Whole in One' - a three hole environmentally themed crazy golf course at Glastonbury Festival. Around 1400 people played a round of the course during the festival- far exceeding expectations. The game features three themed holes with players making choices on route. Topics include fossil fuels, traffic congestion and wind power.
June 2013 Sticky Exhibits shortlisted for Lush Charity pot vote at Glastonbury Festival Sticky Exhibits has been short-listed as one of the 10 projects to pitch at the Lush 'Charity Pot' funded vote to be held at this year's Glastonbury Festival. The ten short-listed groups get three minutes to appeal for support for their activities at the Speakers Forum in the 'Green Futures' field. The audience will then vote, with the top five projects each recieving £1,000 May 2013 First foray into crowdfunding helps new exhibit build Although our first foray into crowd funding was a steep learning curve, we managed to raise over a hundred pounds towards out new environmentally themed crazy golf course due to debut at Glastonbury Festival in June. Thanks to all those who helped including sponsors: Anne, Bryan and Margaret
April 2013 Exhibit "crowdfunding" site now launched A campaign to raise funding to support the development of a new exhibit has just been launched. The campaign aims to raise £500 to support the creation and deployment of an environmentally-themed crazy golf game.
The campaign and project initial "pitch" was together by students at the University of Chester working with Sticky Exhibits as part of a Sustainable Futures project. Blues Party Fundraiser for Sticky Exhibits Thanks to the efforts of long time Sticky Exhibits volunteer Will Griffin, a fund raising music night will be taking place on on Saturday 18th May at Furness Vale Social Club, Yeardsley Lane (off A6), Furness Vale, High Peak. Will's acoustic blues band " Blues Party" will be on the bill which also features local rock act "One Last Rendezvous". Doors open at 8:30 pm with a suggested donation of £5. The proceeds will be split between a New Mills Solar Schools project and Sticky Exhibits.

Torrs Hydro is a pioneering community renewable energy cooperative based in New Mills, Derbyshire. The group distribute some of their profits to community causes through a grants programme. Sticky Exhibits gets social through student project Sticky Exhibits is now on the popular social media site twitter thanks to a collaboration with students at the University of Chester. A group of final year students taking the 'Sustainable Futures' module are engaged in a social media project to help 'crowd fund' a new exhibit. The students have set up and are currently in the driving seat for our new twitter account @stickyexhibits. Why not give them/us a "follow". Sticky Exhibits also has a presence on Facebook, why not give our pages a "like"
August 2012 Join the 125! To mark seven years - and in the hope of seeing eight - we’ve launched an appeal The Sticky Exhibits 125. We are looking for 125 fabulous people to support our work by donating a pound or more a month. The 125 club takes its name from the £125 it currently costs to keep Sticky Exhibits afloat each month (the cost to store our collection, insure it for public events, promote it via our website and pay an accountant to keep us legal!). If you want to be a part of the Sticky 125, complete and return standing order mandate (pdf, 148K) . June 2012 Knowsley Green Fayre Our solar PV exhibits were in use at Knowsley Green Fayre this month. Thanks to Kelly at Knowlsey Council for sending us a photo.
Friends of Chester Bluecoats Our exhibition tent helped keep the volunteers from the Friends of Chester Bluecoats Primary School dry at a recent jubilee event. Rain did not stop play with cake sales, games and craft activities all taking place to raise money for the Chester school. May 2012 New exhibit takes shape Work is now progressing to develop a new exhibit 'The Carbon Shopping Basket'. The exhibit will feature a selection of items of produce weighted according to the carbon pollution associated with their production. The carbon footprint 'story' of each item will be told on an associated label. Experts were consulted to get credible data sources for the exhibit. A product design student from Liverpool John Moore's University has taken up the challenge to produce the exhibit. April 2012 Game play enhancements planned for popular exhibit Work will start shortly on to enhance the game play experience for our 'Waste Binvaders' game. The game has been extremely popular since its debut at Glastonbury Festival in 2006 as a working prototype. A Python Programmer has volunteered to complete the enhancements with work to start in June.

June 2011 Glastonbury Festival 2011 A great effort from a wide team of volunteers helped make The Earth Arcade at Glastonbury 2011 one of our best yet. We debuted the new 'Your Fortune' machine which proved a real hit. It was great to see groups of people crowding round to take turns to get their own environmentally themed 'reading'. Thanks to everyone who helped. Pictures to follow!
Envirolution Great to play a part in the wonderful Envirolution event held in Platts Field Park. Lots of interest in our renewables exhibits. Crowd sourcing for 'Your Future' Green Fortune Telling Exhibit Work is going well on the 'Your Future' Fortune Telling Machine, due to be debuted later this month at Glastonbury Festival.
We have built the cabinet and now got the basic functions working. When visitors place their hand on the palm reader it triggers a glowing crystal ball and audio player to voice the fortune teller's 'reading'. We now need to script some short audio files for each reading. There is a maximum of 15 seconds for each fortune reading. We need short humourous readings that give a positive message linked to a green behaviour. To help us out, either email your suggested readings to bry.lip@virgin.net or tweet them using the #GFortune hashtag. For example: In your future when one door closes and the other opens, remember to close it again to prevent draughts #Gfortune Thanks in anticipation of your input. We will use the best suggestions in the final exhibit.
May 2011 Scintillate Good to meet up with Rob Wix of the Scintillate project. We hope to be working together in the not too distant future. January 2010 A belated Happy New Year from Sticky Exhibits and thanks to everyone who has supported us during 2010. In 2009, we saw progress on several fronts. The number of events we served was up and included both work with employers and schools as well as public events. At long last we moved our exhibits into a local storage depot too. We also added to the collection. Looking ahead through 2010, we hope to continue to expand the collection and expand the number of events we serve. With support from local agencies, through the local social enterprise network, we hope to develop a longer term business plan. Sticky Exhibits only exists through the sweat and creative energies of numerous volunteers; the fees we charge are directed at our costs (insurance, legal and accountancy fees, storage charges, and most importantly new exhibits) which do not include salaries. This year, we hope to grow our regular income from donations in order to expand the space we have to store exhibits. If you can assist please get in touch. 15 August 2009 Institute of Physics supported wind exhibit arrives!
13th August 2009 How wind energy works nearing completion Our latest exhibit about how wind generators work is nearing completion and should be abvailable for September. December 2008 Photos of Blackberry Fair Thanks to Sarah, organiser of the fabulous Blackberry Fair, we now have some photos of the Earth Arcade in action.
October 2008 Blackberry event extends the event season It's been another busy summer for Sticky Exhibits and this year, encouragingly, bookings have extended into the autumn. The earth arcade exhibits most recently featured at the new Blackberry Fair in Whitchurch - a fabulous celebration of the season. The whole world in your hands Our 1.8 metre inflatable planet earth has proved to be a most popular prop. The inflatable earth has seen service in a variety of environmental events from Chester to Henley. Luckily we have two and one is booked out for a staff awareness week at a company in Crawley later this month. July 2008 Earth Arcade Draws Crowds We celebrated our third birthday in style with the debut of Earth Arcade at Glastonbury Festival. The Eco Dome was kitted out with environmentally themed arcade games including - Waste Binvaders, Recyle Pin Ball, and our brand new Bin Strike Bowling Alley. Hot on the heels of its successful debut, Earth Arcade also proved a hit at the two day St Helens Festival, and a week later it was very much in demand at Chester's popular One Earth Festival. A big thank you to all volunteers who have helped create and bring the Earth Arcade alive. It has been a long time coming but the reaction from the public has been tremendous. The Earth Arcade will feature next at the World in Princes Park - the annual end point for the Bouhahha International Street Carnival in Liverpool at the beginnin gof August. June 2008 Event season starts with a flurry The event season has well and truely started. First came World Environment Day at Trafford, then the Knowsley Green Fayre. Next up our third birthday at Glastonbury Festival where we will be running the Earth Arcade. March 2008 Sticky Exhibits - a Community Interest Company We are pleased to announce that Sticky Exhibits is now formally a Community Interest Company. This gives us a legal form as an organisation and confirms our not for profit status by locking any assets that the company may now hold for community benefit. In practical day-to-day terms not alot changes, we are still run by volunteers with the same mission. The 'benefits' are: we have more credibility by having a recognisedlegal form; we can open a company bank account; we can bid for many more sources of funding; and the liabilities of those involved are now limited. This is a significant step in our plans. Many thanks to Cheshire's Social Enterprise Team and the Cheshire Social Enterprise Network for their support in helping us become a CIC. February 2008 Support Sticky Exhibits The winter months are the quieter months for events, but not for exhibit creation and repair. Repairs to our wind generator did not go quite to plan and we have had to return it for a professional overhall. Keeping our exhibits in service is more expensive than you might think. We do rely on lots of voluntary effort, but sometimes it is only cash that counts. Find out how you can support Sticky Exhibits by donation or sponsorship here January 2008 A Belated Happy New Year We were pleased to finish 2007 by winning 'Outstanding Project of the Year' at the Higher Education Volunteering Awards. The year ahead should prove to be exciting as we finalise work to constitute Sticky Exhibits as a Community Interest Company. 06 December 2007 Sticky Exhibits Shortlisted in Higher Education Volunteering Awards Sticky Exhibits has been shortlisted in the Higher Education Volunteering Awards under the 'Outstanding Project' category. 16 August 2007 Show goes on as busy summer season takes its toll Unfortunately we have suffered a run of bad luck this summer sustaining damage to both our renewable energy system and associated games. Thankfully due to the efforts of volunteers and some money - thanks to donations from supporters and event organisers - we have been able to get things working in time for all our event commitments - with the purchase of a new battery, box and wiring. At present our wind generator set has a cracked blade so is out of action pending the finance and purchasing of a new head. Donations of a spare rutland 503 set most welcome! Carnivals and Flowers It was a busy weekend for Sticky Exhibits with two major events in one weekend. The first, in Liverpool, was the The World in Princes Park - end point for the Brouhaha International Carnival. The second, the Knowsley Flower Show. Both events featured the Eco Dome, Power Pod and a variety of themed exhibits. 13 July 2007 Photos from Glastonbury Thanks to the Sticky Exhibits Crew from Glastonbury we now have some more photos to share!
29 June 2007 Sticky Exhibits is two! Glastonbury Festival 2007 marked the second birthday of Sticky Exhibits, despite the rain and mud we were able to showcase our new renewable power pod trailer along with a beta version of waste binvaders and our new reduce reuse recycle pinball table
1 June 2007 Power Pod Nears Completion The Power Pod took a step closer to completion today with work to fabricate a mast and associated fixings to attach our wind generator. The solar panel covered teardrop trailer made its debut at the recent Ragley Green Fayre and will feature again at the Knowsley Green Fayre this weekend. It is hoped the solar and wind energy equipped trailer will be fully complete in time for Sticky Exhibit's 2nd Birthday Celebrations at Glastonbury Festival later this month.

9th November 2006 Autumn/Winter Research and Development Sticky Exhibits can help with events year round but as the Autumn/Winter are generally less busy it gives us more time for research and development for new exhibits. At present we have several 'live' projects on the go including the Renewable Power Pod, Waste Invaders and Recycling Pinball Table; but we like to keep our eyes out for new possibilities too! When trawling the web we came across a rather neat collection at: www.newenergyshop.com. There's a great collection of models and kits to demostrate some 'alternative' engines, why not check them out?
23 October 2006 'In Town Without My Car' at Stockport Stockport Council have kindly provided pictures from the recent 'In Town Without My Car' Event, utilising our renewables displays.

The money will go towards the Power Pod exhibit and in legal work to constitute Sticky Exhibits using one of the newly available not for profit organisational business models. 11 August 2006 Revolution in Renewables Our renewables exhibits are being put to use this Saurday at Kingsmead School in Cheshire. The event is part of a series of workshops for those interested in installing renewable energy systems.
23rd June 2006 Sticky Exhibits is One! Thanks to everyone for your support: Sticky Exhibits is one year old Our initial grant has long been spent and we have been solely reliant on donations for many months now. Thankfully we have enough in the kitty to cover core costs for another year but we still need your help to keep growing the exhibit collection. If you can help please get in touch. Wind power needed for Kite Festival Sticky Exhibits will be showing it's wind charger and associated renewable energy displays at the Wirral Kite Festival this Saturday and Sunday. The display is likely to include our new how 'solar thermal systems work' display which proved popular at both the St Helens World Aware and Cheshire Show events. Pictures will be added as here shortly...it been mad busy and we've yet to download them to our pc! 13th June Repeat Visit For Sticky Exhibits The coming weekend will see a repeat showing of Sticky Exhibits at the St Helens World Aware Event. This year we will be taking a larger range of exhibits including solar and wind power and, fingers crossed, the first use of our how solar thermal energy works display due for collection from the fabricators this week! Knowsley Green Fayre The event season kicked off with a fantastic day at the Knowsley Green Fayre. Bright sunshine and a beautiful setting drew the crowds to an excellent event. Sticky Exhibits brought the eco dome with a range of displays on solar energy. Our new set of 'kid resistant' solar spinners were put to use for our popular paper plate colour and spin activity where people simply take a plate, colour it in, then use the sun to make it spin! By our own estimates we reckon a good thousand people visited so many we ran out of plates!
28th April 2006 In 'Hot Water' over grant success Sticky Exhibits founder, Bryan Lipscombe, has been awarded a grant from the Institute of Physics to create a new exhibit. The grant will be used to create a display - 'How Solar Hot Water Systems Work' - for use alongside our quarter size working solar hot water system. The grant comes from the Institute of Physics Public Engagement Grant Scheme. 19th April 2006 Can you help us create the Earth Arcade? Work has now started on the first exhibit in what we hope will be a new collection 'The Earth Arcade'. Our aim is to build a collection of environmentally themed arcade games. Games will run on 'low energy' mainly battery based systems. The aim is to create a collection that will be powered from renewable energy. The first exhibit under development is a recycling and waste minimisation game called 'Waste Invaders'. A volunteer has come forward to make the game concept into a working programme and a low energy 'mini itx' pc has been sourced. If you have an idea for a game why not share it with us at the ideas bank. If you are an budding games programmer and would like to volunteer some of your time to help us develop new games for 'The Earth Arcade' why not get in touch? 15th March 2006 Volunteers Fair Sticky exhibits will be seeking volunteers at the University of Chester's 'Volunteering an Careers Fair' in the afternoon of Friday 31st March. An estimated 2000 people braved the mud and rain to visit Sticky Exhibits tent in the Green Futures Field The Giant Loo, normally used for water awareness promotions, was converted into the Glastonbury Wishing Bog. Some 600 people made a wish using the loo, helping to raise just over a hundred pounds towards the project. The 'electricty from the sun' display, also on show, also proved itself popular. Evaluation forms distributed to visitors indicate the exhibit 'hit the spot' in helping to explain how solar electricity works. General reaction to the project concept and mission were positive and some excellent contacts were made.
